See what a spam filter sees

Paste your subject line and body. We score it the way a filter would and tell you which specific phrases, link patterns and formatting choices are costing you.

This runs before every send here.

The same lint is one of the pre-send checks on every campaign, each with a link straight to the fix.

How the score works

What the spam score checks, and what it doesn't

The score runs from 0 to 10, and lower is better. It adds points for patterns that filters and readers both treat as spam signals: a subject in mostly capitals, three or more exclamation marks, a $ sign or the word free in the subject, long stretches of capitals in the body, phrases from a list of common spam triggers, many links in very little text, an email that is mostly images, images without alt text, and template placeholders such as {{first_name}} left unfilled. Each finding shows how many points it added and what to change.

The tool takes HTML only, so it also reminds you to send a plain-text version alongside it.

What it doesn't check

The score reads your words and markup. It doesn't test your domain's authentication, your sending reputation or how your list was collected, and those decide more about where a message lands than wording does. A low score removes the obvious triggers; it can't promise the inbox. For authentication, run the domain checker.

Spam score questions

Is this the same as a SpamAssassin score?

No. It's a shorter set of checks aimed at the mistakes people most often leave in drafts. SpamAssassin and mailbox providers run far more rules, and add reputation and authentication data this tool doesn't have.

What score should I aim for?

Under 1.5, which the tool reads as clean. From 1.5 to 3 means a few minor fixes; from 5 up, it reads as a high risk of the spam folder. Clearing every finding marked high matters more than the exact number.

Do you store the email I paste?

No. The subject and body are scored, the result is sent back, and nothing is saved. No account is needed.
